James Hansen supports GHT’s comprehensive efforts to be a top choice for MEP engineering when LEED® certification is an objective. He manages our overall approach and collaborates with corporate leadership to encourage employee accreditation; support project certification; and provide sustainable design resources.
A senior mechanical engineer with 15 years of experience, James also provides engineering design and project management for Building Systems and Interiors projects, and offers energy modeling capabilities for projects in our Commissioning/Operations Phase Services (OPS) studio. He has extensive experience with the US Department of Energy’s building modeling engine (DOE-2.1E) using multiple interfaces, including DOE-Plus and eQuest. James is also familiar with CONTAMW, the building pressurization / smoke control modeling software that is becoming the accepted method for verification of stair pressurization design in the Washington, DC area.
A Professional Engineer registered in three states and the District of Columbia, as well as a LEED Accredited Professional, James graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
