The South County Government Center is a five-story build-to-suit structure for the Fairfax County Government. It provides multi-use functions in single location, including health care, senior daycare with a kitchen and laundry, juvenile offender processing center and detainment facility, and administrative offices.
GHT designed MEP systems to meet the needs of the wide variety of users while efficiently utilizing similar components. A central chill facility provides air conditioning to meet the multi-faceted needs, as does a central domestic hot water distribution system. Emergency power was included for operation of the code-mandated life safety system and other security considerations.
