A GSA Design Excellence Program project, the headquarters for and addition to the Bureau of Public Debt (BPD) was designed and constructed in two phases and completed in 2005. The project achieved Certification under the LEED for New Construction & Major Renovations™ rating system. A major component of the sustainable design was a highly efficient HVAC system that maximizes energy conservation.
GSA and the Bureau of Public Debt (BPD) worked together on long-range planning for BPD and developed a master plan with the organization’s potential future space needs in mind. All facets of the design, including the site plan, architecture, and building operating systems, support the possibility of future expansion. The facility includes repositionable partitions and in-floor ducts for electrical, phone, and data lines.
