Arlington County’s permit office – part of the Inspection Services Division of the Department of Community Planning, Housing and Development (DCPHD) – features an open office plan with workstations, conference space and the permit processing center. The project achieved a certification level of Silver under the LEED for Commercial Interiors ™ rating system.
Sustainable features include 0.5 gallon-per-minute aerators on all lavatory faucets and pantry sinks to reduce water use; waterless urinals in the men’s rest room uses and dual flush valves in the women’s rest room. The HVAC system features floor-by-floor chilled water air-handling units fed from a central chilled water system on the roof; perimeter variable air volume (VAV) terminal units with electric heat; cooling-only interior VAV terminal units; and a supplemental condenser water loop that serves the supplemental AC unit within the server room.
