LEEDŽ CI Platinum Certified

USGBC, the creator of the LEED rating system for sustainable buildings, has occupied 75,000 square feet at 2101 L St in March of 2009.

Energy reduction efforts include a demand controlled ventilation systems for the conference center with heat recovery.

Occupancy sensor monitors adjust unoccupied office space temperatures 3 degrees higher or lower respectively, to save heating/cooling costs. Occupancy sensors also turn off power to office electronic devices at night and during non business hours.

A lighting control system enables daylight harvesting, occupancy sensors and time of day scheduling. Motor operated auto controlled window systems draw blinds to allow maximum vision while reducing glare on work stations. The system automatically senses the intensity of the sun and adjusts accordingly. Lighting watt density is at .6 watts per square foot.

A two-story water wall feature produces radiant cooling and dehumidifies the atmosphere. Point of use water heaters reduce energy consumption by not storing hot water or recirculating.

All water fixtures are energy efficient. The domestic water filtration system produces water higher in quality and purity than that of standard bottled water.

Increased ventilation improved air quality 30% higher than industry standards. Additionally, the USGBC office space water savings will be 4o% higher than typical offices.
